ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. – PGA Tour hopefuls will have to wait another day to learn their fates, after the final round of the Web.com Tour Championship was postponed Sunday because of inclement weather.
Heavy rain and wind swept through the Jacksonville area overnight and early Sunday morning, leaving Atlantic Beach Country Club unplayable.
The final round is scheduled to begin at 7:45 a.m. ET Monday.
Full-field scores from the Web.com Tour Championship
The Monday finish creates an interesting situation for the final day of the Web.com season. The Tour Championship is the last event of the Web.com Tour Finals, which awards another 25 cards to the top finishers in the four-event series.
All of the top 50 players who earn their cards through the Web.com Tour should get into the field next week at the PGA Tour’s season-opening Safeway Classic in Napa, Calif. Three players who have already locked up their cards withdrew when play was delayed (and then canceled for the day) on Sunday.
The increased number of withdrawals is unfortunate news for those around the bubble. Adam Svensson, Ben Crane and Matthew Southgate are currently projected as Nos. 26-28 on the Finals money list, respectively, and they’ll likely slide down further with more money up for grabs for those who stuck around.
Crane, who kept his Tour card for 16 consecutive seasons, did not tee it up in the Web.com finale, despite sitting at No. 18 on the Finals money list.
