PALM HARBOR, Fla. – Tiger Woods’ success through two rounds of the Valspar Championship has caught the eyes of bettors in Las Vegas who are focused on the season’s first major.

When odds for the 2018 Masters opened in August at the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook, Woods was listed at 100/1. But that was before he received clearance from his doctors following back fusion surgery, and before he kicked off the latest installment of his comeback.

Woods was listed at 16/1 to begin this week, but after opening with a 1-under 70 at Innisbrook, those odds were trimmed to 12/1. As Woods was in the midst of a second-round 68 that briefly gave him sole possession of the lead, Westgate oddsmaker Jeff Sherman received a “healthy wager” on Woods at 12/1 and lowered his odds again, this time to 10/1.

The rush of money means that Woods is now third favorite on the odds board, ahead of the likes of Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy and trailing only world No. 1 Dustin Johnson and No. 2 Justin Thomas.
