Wie, 27, was six shots off the lead after rounds of 71-68-70 in Ottawa.
“Michelle Wie will have surgery to remove her appendix today at Ottawa Hospital,” her agency, IMG, said in a statement. “Further details on her condition will be provided when available.”
Wie is currently ranked No. 30 in the world and has seven top-10 finishes this season, including a T-3 fiinish at the Ricoh Women’s British Open in her most recent stroke-play start. She went 1-2-0 last week during the Solheim Cup, helping the American team retain the trophy.
