Cristie Kerr and Lexi Thompson took down Catriona Matthew and Georgia Hall in Saturday afternoon’s fourballs, pouring in a barrage of birdies – and an eagle – that the European side simply couldn’t keep up with.
Kerr pushed the United States 3 up with three holes to go when her third shot from the bunker short of the green at the par-5 15th found the bottom of the cup.
Kerr and Thompson would close out Matthew and Hall one hole later to take the anchor match, 4 and 2.
