Maybe he should have pulled the pin? Tyrrell Hatton’s bid for a hole-in-one at the par-3 fourth in Round 1 of the WGC-HSBC Champions was denied by the flagstick, keeping it a frustrating inch from an ace.

The tap-in got Hatton to 2 under par through four holes but, unfortunately for the Englishman, that was the peak of his day. Hatton double-bogeyed the fifth and eighth hole on his way to an even-par 72.

He is eight shots back of first-round leader Patrick Reed.

If you’re wondering how Hatton felt about his round, well, he was quick to let everyone know via social media.
