AUGUSTA, Ga. – Three players at the Masters have a chance to unseat Dustin Johnson as the top-ranked player in the world.
Johnson has held onto the No. 1 spot since last February, but Justin Thomas, Jon Rahm and Jordan Spieth all have a mathematical chance at Augusta National, according to Golf Channel world-rankings guru Alan Robison.
Thomas can become world No. 1 with a victory, and even a top-5 finish gives him a chance.
Here are the various scenarios:
Justin Thomas moves to No. 1 with:
• Win
• Solo 2nd and DJ finish outside top 3
• Solo 3rd and DJ finish outside top 8
• Solo 4th and DJ finish outside the top 20, and neither Rahm nor Spieth win
• Solo 5th and DJ missed cut (or finish outside the top 60), and neither Rahm nor Spieth win

Rahm moves to No. 1 with:
• Win, DJ finish outside top 8 and Thomas finish outside top 3
Spieth moves to No. 1 with:
• Win, DJ finish outside top 10 and Thomas finish outside top 3
Tiger Woods can’t return to No. 1 this week, of course, but after entering the Masters at No. 103 in the world, he could move as high as 22nd with a victory.
A runner-up would move him as high as 38th. He needs a top-3 to have a chance to move into the top 50.
