NASSAU, Bahamas – As the PGA Tour approaches a new calendar year, it’s common to see some new faces among the caddie ranks. On Wednesday, Henrik Stenson became the first high-profile player to roll out a new partnership.
Scott Vail, who caddied for Brandt Snedeker before the two split earlier this year, is on the Swede’s bag this week, replacing Stenson’s long-time caddie Gareth Lord.
Stenson explained that Lord recently underwent surgery and that the two decided it was time for a break.

“You try out a partnership and give it a few weeks and see if it’s something to move ahead,” Stenson said. “We’re in the dating stages.”
Vail worked for Stenson at the DP World Tour Championship earlier this month when he finished tied for 12th place, and he said the partnership is off to a good start.
“Gun show. He’s strong,” Stenson smiled when asked what Vail brings to the partnership. “I’ve known him over the years. He’s a positive guy. He obviously has the experience. It’s different when he’s been on Brandt’s bag rather than mine, but he seems calm and easy going.”
