RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – Sung Hyun Park built a two-shot lead on the back nine Saturday at the ANA Inspiration.
But she walked off the course four shots behind Pernilla Lindberg.
Park had a crazy day, made more challenging when she and Lindberg were put on the clock on the 12th hole. It seemed to rattle Park, who bogeyed the 12th and 13th holes to give up her two-shot lead as the paired sped up to get back in position.
“I just tried to play my own game and stay focused on what I had to do,” Park said when asked about being put on the clock. “At the end of the day, I just had to focus on what I had to accomplish. It was a rough day out there today.”

Park, the reigning U.S. Women’s Open champion and co-LPGA Player of the Year, started her round struggling to find fairways. She missed the first four fairways and bogeyed two of the first four holes, but she rallied with birdies at the ninth, 10th and 11th holes before the struggles coming home. She played the final seven holes in 5 over par and posted a 2-over 74.
“There were a bunch of fairways that I couldn’t miss, so that was something that I am disappointed in, my shots today,” Park said.
Park hit just 5 of 14 fairways.
“I had a lot of great play, a lot of good aspects in my game today,” Park said. “So, I’m just going to focus on what I need to do for tomorrow.”
